Three of Hollywood’s hottest leading men are fighting it out to play Frank Sinatra in a new movie.
Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney and Johnny Depp are all desperate to land the role of the famous crooner in an upcoming biopic directed by Martin Scorsese, and according to insiders, each pin-up has someone involved in the movie backing them.
Leonardo, 34, is said to have Martin Scorsese’s support after working with the Oscar-winning director on a host of movies including The Departed, Gangs Of New York and the upcoming thriller Shutter Island.
But studio chiefs are keen to bag Pirates Of The Caribbean heartthrob, Johnny Depp, while Sinatra’s own daughter wants George Clooney to play her dad on the big screen. And while the decision over who would do the role justice is dividing producers, so is the film’s content, with a row breaking out between Scorsese and Sinatra’s family over what the director will feature in the film.
Sinatra’s 61-year-old daughter Tina wants the film to be about the My Way singer’s music, while the director is intent on depicting the darker side of the musical legend. [Source]
